News Article Date: 12/1/2007 Article Title: MULLIS RACE CARS CUSTOMERS ENJOY GREAT WINTER SERIES Mullis Race Cars customers continued the chassis’ builders tradition for success at the 2007 edition of the annual Florida Winter Series. The 2007 Winter Series kicked off at Immokalee Regional Raceway, in Immokalee, FL. There, local competitor Mike Ferraro dominated competition in his Mullis built dragster. In addition to a $5,000 victory in Thursday’s opening event, Ferraro also had a second entry in the semi-finals, took runner-up honors in the Worthy Dragster race to fellow Mullis Race Cars driver Troy Williams, Jr., and earned another semi-final finish in Friday’s $20,000-to-win event en route to the weekend points championship. Mullis owners nearly swept the Immokalee event, with Steve Talacynski and Jason Folk taking $20,000 triumph’s to follow Ferraro’s $5,000 win and Williams’ Dragster race crown. Williams then advanced to Sunday’s $10,000 final, only to fall victim to a red light start, preventing a complete Mullis sweep. The same weekend as the Immokalee event, the DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series culminated with the Pro Bracket Masters Championship event at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX. There, longtime Mullis Race Cars customer Greg Brotherton earned a victory in the weekend’s main event, the Pro Bracket Masters Championship, netting over $15,000 for his efforts. Brotherton had both of his Mullis Race Cars in the semi-finals of that event, but was forced to run himself in the semi-final round. Brotherton also claimed a runner-up in Friday’s $10,000-to-win event, which clinched him the Division 4 DragRaceResults.com Bracket Series championship, and a second place national finish. In addition to Brotherton’s success, Daryl Hamlin, Jr. and Don Boulware staged an all Mullis Race Cars final on the final day of the event, with Hamlin earning the $10,000 victory. The following Wednesday, the second leg of the Florida winter series kicked off at Bradenton Motorsports Park. There, Alabama racer Timmy Smith drove his Mullis Race Cars built machine to a pair of final round appearances and a second place finish in the 5-Day points. Smith took runner-up honors in the Thursday event, before doing himself one round better with a win on Saturday. Ed Bousman also added to the Mullis Race Cars trophy case with a runner-up finish in Friday’s main event. At Moroso Motorsports Park, Troy Williams, Jr. flexed his Mullis Race Cars muscle with his second Moroso 5-Day Championship (Williams also won the prestigious title in 1998, once again behind the wheel of a Mullis dragster). Williams dominated an event stacked with the most successful racers from across the nation, winning the day2/day 3 combo race for $20,000, and backing it up with another $10,000 victory on day 4. By the time Williams fell with a -.002 red light in Friday’s quarterfinal round, he had amassed an unprecedented 20 consecutive round victories at Moroso! In his $20,000 triumph, Williams’ trumped an all-Mullis Race Cars semi-final; besting Todd “Bones” Ewing in the semi-final round before stopping Shane Carr in the finale. The 2007 Winter Series wound down with a stop at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel, GA. There, Ewing scored a $2,500 victory with his Huntsville Engine powered Mullis Dragster on Saturday night. Brendan George completed a Mullis Race Cars sweep of the South Georgia event by driving his Mullis 4-link dragster to the win on Sunday evening. Mullis Race Cars would like to congratulate these competitors on their successful November run, and to once again thank each and every Mullis Race Cars owner for their business and patronage.
