Over the last week, Mullis built machines once again found their way into the winner circle throughout the United States. On Wednesday, August 22, the rain-delayed NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals were finally completed at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA. There, Alabama racer Jeff Strickland continued what has been a red-hot summer tour by taking the Super Comp title in his Mullis Race Cars Swing Arm Dragster. Strickland, who has also recently picked up victories at the $25,000-to-win AA Auto Salvage Mega Bucks event at Atco Raceway, and a $10,000 triumph at Beech Bend Park’s Tenn-Tuck series, knocked off Scott Weney in the final round. Less than a week later, a pair of Mullis customers were victorious on the NHRA Lucas Oil Division Series tour. At Beech Bend Park, Shane Carr drove his familiar Mullis 4-link machine to the victory in Super Comp. Carr’s win was his second consecutive Super Comp title at the annual Division 3 event, and his second recent Super Comp score (Carr also won the NHRA Summit Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park in July). In addition to Carr’s victory, Mullis Race Cars earned another accolade at Beech Bend, as Troy Williams, Jr. was awarded the “Best Appearing Car” award for his new Mullis Race Cars Swing Arm Super Comp entry. The Bowling Green event marked the debut for Williams’ new ride. Meanwhile, longtime Mullis customer and noted engine builder Matt Driskell was earning some hardware of his own at Heartland Park Topeka. There, Driskell scored a Top Dragster victory in his Mullis 4-link dragster at the Division 5 Lucas Oil Division Series event. Along the big dollar bracket scene, Mullis customers also made strong showings. At the DragRaceResults.com/Goodyear Bracket Series Black Gold Nationals at Tulsa Raceway Park, Jeremy Maples drove to a runner-up finish in Saturday’s $5,000-to-win main event. Maples was making his first appearance in the Mullis 4-link machine he recently purchased from longtime Mullis customer J. Lee Didier. Sunday’s $5,000-to-win Super Pro event also saw a Mullis 4-link Dragster in the final round, as longtime Mullis customer Jeff Brotherton took runner-up honors in his Brodix Cylinder Heads backed entry. The entire staff at Mullis Race Cars would once again like to congratulate these racers on their achievements, and thank each and every Mullis Race Cars customer for their business and patronage.
